Deputy min: Yandex.Taxi may get free access as important resource

MOSCOW, Feb 28 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Digital Development Ministry may include online taxi hailing service Yandex.Taxi in the list of socially important Internet resources with free access, Deputy Minister Lyudmila Bokova told reporters late on Thursday.

“These will be amendments to the law on connection, and we must say that connection services are provided free of charge. We are thinking as an example of a case when a person needs a taxi with a zero balance. The option will be possible regardless of a tariff plan,” Bokova said.

It will be socially important local resources, like Yandex.Taxi, she said.

The amendments can be adopted in 2020.

As the first stage of the project, access to the portal of state services and websites of federal and regional governments across the whole country will become free from Sunday.
